One shipment, start to finish
Hold Fast is a training game for Pasha Hawaii. It follows one day of cargo through the whole shipment lifecycle: from the booking confirmation in Oakland, onto the ship, across the Pacific, out the gate in Honolulu, and on to closing the books. Each stop on the map is its own short game, scored out of three stars.
The stops
0 · Orientation
A classroom quiz with Kumu Lani from L&OD. Match Pasha's company names and shipping terms to the board. Two misses or fewer earns ★★★.
1 · I Spy
Find each field on a booking confirmation, fast. Quick finds score more, and a streak of right answers multiplies your points up to ×3.
2 · Booking Desk
Put the day's bookings on the George III and the Janet Marie in CDM. Check the CY cutoff, the ports of call and the delivery dates, fit the TEU and the reefer plugs, and book the most revenue you can.
3 · Hold Fast
Load the ship at Oakland with the gantry crane. Trucks bring the boxes in any order, so pick the one the stow needs next. Kahului boxes go under Honolulu ones, reefers need a plug, heavy boxes must be spread to keep her level, and every full tier gets lashed.
4 · The Crossing
Steer the ship across the Pacific to Honolulu. Keep clear of storm cells on the weather radar, run at half ahead to save LNG, and go full ahead when you fall behind. Cargo you didn't lash can go overboard.
5 · Honolulu
Unload what you stowed for the trucks waiting on the quay. Serve the longest wait first, and keep her level as she lightens.
6 · Cargo Release
At the gate, check each driver's pickup slip against CDM: freight paid, AG holds, trucker and pickup number. Release a box that should be held and it costs you.
7 · Closeout
Month end. Credit lost and late boxes, match each payment to its invoice, and chase anything paid short.
Full Voyage
The final challenge, opened after Closeout: a new day of orders, seven stages back to back with no practice. 19 of 21 stars earns ★★★.
